Before Gazelle, many of us started out and trained at the BBC, going on to win awards and work for other broadcasters, such as Channel 4, Discovery, Apple and the History Channel.

Navid Akhtar is an award winning Broadcast Journalist whose work has explored the British Muslim experience. He began his career at the BBC, on Video Nation and then went on to work for four years at the History Unit, on series such as Reputations and Decisive Weapons. In 2000 he was appointed the development producer of the BBC's acclaimed Islam UK Season, and was specialist adviser to BBC Radio 5, after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In 2003 he was a producer on Channel 4's Hajj: Trip of a Lifetime, and has received awards from the Prix Europa and Sanford St Martins Trust, for his radio programmes. Recent television work includes presenting Who Wants to be a Mullah? (BBC2), Young Angry and Muslim (Channel 4) and development Producer, on "The Retreat", (BBC2).
Over the last year Navid has presented two programmes for Radio 4 "I am a Muslim Get Me Out of Here", and "Nusrat was my Elvis". This year he has also worked on Radio 4's Uncovering Pakistan Season and Asian Network documentary "A Dutiful Child".
Aside from his broadcast work, he has produced programmes for the Foreign and Commonwealth office, and advised the CRE and British Council on Muslim issues. He has lectured on both Media and Muslim issues in Berlin, Warsaw, and Copenhagen.
